- I love Christian fiction, but it is difficult to find well-written Christian fiction without all the drama and unrealistic relationships and romance. This was one of those...predictable, unrealistic relationships. Won't read the 2nd one.
- If you’re like me and really like reading a story with suspense, high tension and more, here is a brand new author with a brand new series! I must say this novel of suspense was a story on steroids as it never lets up with more twists and turns than I can remember. I found this treasure as I was surfing looking for books to read, new authors or something that was outside the normal box in writing style. D. L. Woods does a phenomenal job of grabbing the reader’s attention and interest right from the start all the way to the epilogue! There is a sequel to come out this year titled Unintended Witness that will continue with the main characters we meet in book one. Normally one would have to drink caffeine to stay alert, but this book does it for you!
A young woman loses her twin brother in a car accident and what he has done will cause upheaval and danger to his twin sister, but to him it was to make sure she was taken care of by living in style. What couldn’t be foreseen by her twin brother were the other characters that would lose their lives in this high stakes gamble to siphon millions from a company and leave without being caught!
The story is a Christian one, clean, engaging and really whets my appetite for when the next book comes out! I hope it is soon, and I will be watching for D. L. Woods future works as she definitely has a fan for her style of stories with heart-stopping, blood-pumping thrills! - I wavered back and forth between three and four stars. I settled on four because this book kept me reading. This is Christian fiction, but very light on the 'Christian'. It's more of a suspense thriller with a little God in the mix, and it was done in a way that didn't push or overshadow the storyline. I connected with the characters, but not on that gut-deep, visceral level that leaves you worried for their safety. The beginning of the story starts out a bit slow, picking up steam as it goes. The 'whodunit' part is easy to unravel, but with enough enjoyable twists to keep you reading. The characters are in just enough danger to make you flip faster, but not enough to make you sweat. Basically, an easy read that slips right into its intended genre. Think Dee Henderson.
- I was searching for a clean, suspenseful, well-written mystery. Boy did I find it in this book! I loved it! Be forewarned, though. Many scenes are action-packed, and if you normally have trouble falling asleep? You might not want to pick up this book before you go to bed. Some nights I was up til 100-200 in the morning just because I had to read what happened next.
There are so many creative twists and turns in this story, there is no way to figure out what’s around the corner. It’s an unpredictable, adventurous tale that’s totally believable. I might have to catch my breath before I plunge into book #2 of the series.
The author also weaves God throughout the story without being preachy or portraying characters that are artificially super-spiritual. They could be real people one who’s faith is strong and real, but relatable; the other who doesn’t believe in God, initially. However, she starts to listen to the “God-thing†more attentively as she experiences her co-protagonist’s answers to prayer in back-against-the-wall circumstances where there is no foreseeable way out.
Also, I appreciated the “If you are looking for hope…†epilogue at the end of the book—words that offer encouragement in the Truth and are not fiction.
Great job, D.L. Wood. You delivered a well-written, clean story that kept me on the edge of my seat all the way to the end. Well done! And thank you! - Chloe is a travel journalist, going on assignment in the Caribbean for two weeks. When after three months a text from Tate,he’d be there at 2, and had big news. A call telling her Tate going to fast and plowed into the divider and now gone. Later when she gets to the Caribbean she breaks with reality and rents a place, which is probably the end of her career also.
Someone is looking into .Tate where he has been they are all clean. The link is the girl, unbeknown to her, her life is now being pursued. Not knowing what Tate was doing, she had no answers as to why. The readers will be looking, at the mishaps that happen to her. Then they are on the run, the adventure is fast and keeps you to the end. - D.L. Wood perfectly blends together mystery and suspense with just the right amount of romance and spirituality. The book never ventures into the over-the-top romance that is not believable; instead she paints a picture of two broken people attracted to each other that realistically draw towards each other throughout the book. As far as the spirituality of the book, D.L. Wood never gets preachy; instead, she gives us realistic conversations that many of us have had at one point or other in our lives. And while "Unintended Target" gives us both romance and spirituality, it is at its core an edge of your seat thriller where you like and root for the main characters. You will enjoy the mystery as well as the settings/locations of the novel. I will admit, though, that was one thing I did not find believable...that this was D.L. Wood's first novel. I eagerly await the next book from this up-and-coming writer.
- I didn't realize the storyline would continue on into other books. I was not intrigued enough by book 1 to buy another in the series. Predictable and not enough romance.
